The suspect who allegedly ambushed two Pennsylvania state troopers in a shooting Thursday afternoon has died, officials confirmed.
Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Christopher Paras announced that 61-year-old Carmine Faino was identified as the suspect who was fatally shot by a special response team after negotiation attempts failed.
Troopers responded to a rural location in Hompson Township, Susquehanna County, on Thursday morning around 11:20 a.m., following a report of gunfire in the area.
The call was made by the boyfriend of 57-year-old Lori Wasko, who had been shot and killed in front of her residence near her vehicle.
U.S. Senator Dave McCormick, representing Pennsylvania, acknowledged the situation on social media, saying: “Dina and I are keeping our brave state troopers in Susquehanna County in our prayers and are closely monitoring the unfolding details.”
Republican Representative Rob Bresnahan Jr. expressed his concern on social media, stating: “My thoughts go out to them and their families. We are grateful for the courage and commitment of our law enforcement officers.”
