Amazing Rescue of Woman in Tree, Stunning Video Shows Just How Fast TX Flood Waters Rose

Emergency crews continue their relentless search and rescue operations, striving to locate individuals still unaccounted for following the devastating floods in the Texas Hill Country.

On Sunday, reports emerged of two girls allegedly being rescued from a tree. Although this news circulated widely, the local publication responsible has since issued a retraction, clarifying that the report was regrettably inaccurate.

Despite the confusion, numerous rescues have indeed taken place. Kristi Noem, leader of the Department of Homeland Security, commended a brave Coast Guard member credited with saving 165 lives during these efforts.

One of the reasons the flooding was so problematic was how quickly the water rose as you can see from this video. It shows the rise of the Guadalupe River. You can see the difference from the start of the video to the end when it covers the bridge. The water was so powerful it was crushing trees and even drove a floating house into the bridge.

The numbers keep going up.

Larry Leitha, the Kerr County Sheriff in Texas Hill Country, said 68 people had died in flooding in his county, the epicenter of the flooding, among them 28 children. Texas Governor Greg Abbott, speaking at a press conference on Sunday afternoon, said another 10 had died elsewhere in Texas and confirmed 41 were missing.
