A Jacksonville family is seeking help in finding Kayla Bailey, a mother of five, who has been reported missing since Monday morning.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The family of a well-recognized photographer, wife, and mother of five in Jacksonville is urgently seeking assistance in locating her, after she disappeared early Monday.
Kayla Bailey, aged 34, is known for her work as a newborn photographer in Jacksonville and is the mother to five children between the ages of 5 and 12. Her husband, Joshua Bailey, reported that her cell phone last signaled near a Sunoco gas station on U.S. 301 in Maxville at about 6:39 a.m.
Since then, he said, the phone has either died or been turned off.
Kayla’s daughter informed First Coast News that she saw her mother last at around 5:45 a.m. as she walked outside their house. They briefly locked eyes before the daughter returned to bed. Upon waking later, her mother was nowhere to be found.
Kayla Bailey is described as 5’8 with blonde hair and glasses. Family members said she was last seen wearing a black romper and sandals.
Family members describe her disappearance as extremely unusual. Lately, she had been experiencing some personal struggles and had ceased communication with clients from her longstanding photography service.
Joshua Bailey expressed concern that she might be in danger. Community volunteers have been actively arranging search efforts and distributing flyers in Maxville while a post about Kayla’s disappearance has gained significant attention online.
Joshua Bailey urged his wife to contact family if she is able.
“We have five kids,” he said. “We need to care for them. We definitely don’t want to be a single-parent household. We desire to raise our kids together. We are hopeful this message can reach her, and she might decide to call or text us.”
Kayla Bailey’s mother, Lisa Lucas, also made an emotional plea.
“If somebody has her, please let them find it in their heart to let her go,” Lucas said. “This is not her character. She would never, ever, ever leave these kids. She wouldn’t do this to me.”
The family said a missing person report has been filed with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not yet released new information. Anyone with information on Bailey’s whereabouts is urged to call JSO.
