JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Court records revealed Monday that a man convicted in a 2023 triple murder case in Jacksonville has been sentenced to life imprisonment this month.

The verdict was delivered on June 6 following a jury trial. Ja-Darrius Jones, who was 18 at the time he was taken into custody, received a sentence of 999 years.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire on June 15 at a residence on Bridges Road, near Dunn Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman deceased inside the home and another man dead outside.

The ages of the male victims were 44 and 63. The female was 58. According to a family member, two of the victims were Jones’ grandparents.

Jones was found at a nearby residence and tried to flee out of a window when officers arrived, according to JSO. After a short foot chase, he was arrested.
