A Jacksonville man is critically wounded after intervening in a domestic violence incident involving his daughter, JSO said.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reports that a man is in critical condition following a shooting incident, which occurred as he attempted to halt a domestic dispute involving his daughter.
Sgt. Richardson from the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit revealed that officers arrived around 6:50 p.m. at the 2800 block of Ahmad Drive North. There, they discovered an adult male who had sustained gunshot wounds in both his chest and leg.
Authorities believe the man, who is in his early 50s, tried to mediate a confrontation between his daughter and her boyfriend, leading to the boyfriend firing shots. The daughter involved in the situation is in her early 20s.
The suspect fled the area on foot, and police say he remains at large.
“This was a singular event, though the suspect remains at large,” stated Richardson. Detectives searched the vicinity for surveillance footage and gathered statements from witnesses, including the daughter who was involved in the domestic dispute.
Investigators noted that the shooting originated outside and proceeded inside the residence. The father was urgently transported to a nearby hospital in critical state, and as per the latest reports, he was undergoing surgery.
Authorities have not said whether there were prior calls to the home, noting that detectives are still checking records.
