Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Probes Fatal Shooting Incident

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Saturday in the vicinity of Ribault Avenue, where officers were called to a scene involving a person who had been shot.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An investigation is underway after a man was found in the middle of a Jacksonville road with a gunshot wound before dying.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Saturday in the vicinity of Ribault Avenue, where officers were called to a scene involving a person who had been shot.

When officials arrived, they found a man in the road with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Detectives with the JSO Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit have responded and are currently investigating this incident. 

Officials say multiple witnesses have been detained and are cooperating in the investigation.

“We are continuing to investigate and coordinate with our partners at the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office,” the agency stated.
