A pedestrian noticed a teenager lying unresponsive along Arlington Road North, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities are seeking public assistance following the hit-and-run death of a teenage girl in Jacksonville’s Arlington area on Tuesday night.

Sergeant Robert Hungerford from the JSO stated that around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, a pedestrian was walking in the 700 block of Arlington Road North when they discovered the teenager unresponsive by the roadside.

As reported to First Coast News, the pedestrian immediately contacted 911. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived quickly, but the teenager had already succumbed to her injuries.

Hungerford indicated that evidence pointed to the teen walking along Arlington Road when a vehicle left the road, hitting her and severely damaging a section of a chain link fence.

“The vehicle did not stop after the accident, failing to report it or provide assistance,” explained Hungerford. “Traffic Homicide Detectives are collecting evidence and pursuing video surveillance that could have captured the event.”

This crash marks as the 125 traffic fatality in Duval County in 2025, and the 29th involving a pedestrian, according to Hungerford.

JSO asks that anyone with information about the crash, which occurred between 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, contact the sheriff’s office at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
