Kris Boyd, a cornerback for the Jets, is currently in critical yet stable condition following a shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning in Midtown Manhattan. This information comes from several reports and has been confirmed by police.
The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue, as reported by the New York Post. Boyd, 29, was struck in the abdomen after a disagreement escalated into violence outside Sei Less restaurant, resulting in a gunman discharging two shots.
The NYPD has confirmed to ESPN’s Rich Cimini that Boyd was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where his condition remains critical but stable. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still underway.
A representative from the Jets gave a brief statement to ESPN, acknowledging their awareness of the situation involving Boyd but opted not to provide further comments at this stage.
This marks Boyd’s first season with the Jets, having joined the team as a free agent in March. Initially drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Boyd has also been part of the rosters for the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans.
