Jim Comey Is Worse Than a RINO

It’s difficult to believe that Comey was unaware of the implications when he arranged seashells to spell “86 47,” seemingly an edgy and veiled threat against President Trump. His actions warrant investigation and, if justified, legal action should be taken.

Certainly, a less “important” person would be.

Moreover, as I have previously mentioned, the Democrats need to reduce their continuous provocations against Republicans. There have been two attempts on Donald Trump, a shooting that nearly claimed the life of the House Majority Leader and other Republican members of Congress, an assault on Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), and a plotted attempt on the life of Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh. This kind of incitement is detrimental to our nation.

Returning to James Comey, his conduct was extremely inappropriate, yet not unexpected. Comey, more than anyone I’ve encountered, has rightly earned the label I’ve devised – “Worse Than a RINO.” He is the Democrats’ favorite Republican, frequently undermining fellow Republicans to aid the Democrats.

I am saying this as a commentator who normally takes a very dim view of the constant misuse of the word RINO. A RINO, or Republican In Name Only, was originally – and correctly – applied to Republicans like Sens. Lowell Weicker, Charles Mathias, John Chafee, and Robert Stafford, who vote like Democrats on the issues, but on partisan matters vote for the GOP to control a Congressional chamber, e.g., the U.S. Senate (in 1981). It was not meant to be applied by one GOP faction to another faction that doesn’t agree with them on certain issues or about certain personalities.

Comey, however, is far worse than the real RINOs were. Although he claims to be a Republican and a conservative, he goes along with every Democrat scheme and agenda item in their playbook and has even worked – sometimes illegally – to undermine Republican control over the federal government, especially over the presidency.

Now, we all know how Comey behaved during the beginning of the first Trump administration. He acted like a partisan Democrat and like a crook. But it may interest people to know how he behaved during the previous Republican administration of George W. Bush. There, he was also an agent of the Democrats.

Jim Comey had been chosen by the Bush administration, in the first term, to serve as U.S. Attorney (USA) in New York, and then as Deputy Attorney General, the number two official under U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft. One of his first tasks as USA was to take over the investigation into President Bill Clinton’s controversial pardon of Marc Rich. Comey concluded this involved no illegality.

Later, as the Deputy Attorney General, Comey engaged in a controversial incident involving Attorney General John Ashcroft, the White House Counsel, Alberto Gonzales, and the surveillance program of terrorists. Comey claimed that Gonzales and the White House were trying to take advantage of Ashcroft’s medical condition to break the law by authorizing an illegal program to spy on the American people. Because of this event:

Some Democrats and civil libertarians hold Mr. Comey in high regard for the 2004 confrontation, in which Mr. Comey led a group of Justice Department officials who forced President Bush to change a secret surveillance program. President Barack Obama nodded to the episode in announcing the nomination, saying Mr. Comey “was prepared to give up a job he loved rather than be part of something he felt was fundamentally wrong.”

However, White House Counsel and (later) U.S. Attorney General Gonzales accused Comey of lying about the incident and actually manufacturing a scandal out of it. A “scandal” which the Democrats were able to use to rake the Bush administration over the coals for the next four years.

There is no question that Comey assisted the Democrats in publicizing the non-scandal of the Bush administration’s firing of some USAs in 2006-2007. I know this for a fact, because I was a young staffer on the Senate Judiciary Committee at that time, and I overheard the (now) Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer loudly boasting to other Democrats that Comey was plotting and scheming with them on that issue.

So, when Barack Obama won the presidency, he (eventually) rewarded Comey with the FBI position, bragging endlessly about how “bipartisan” he, Obama, was by choosing a “Republican,” while all the time he knew that Comey could be trusted to act like a partisan Democrat and a crook.

Comey’s actions as FBI Director did not disappoint Obama. I have already mentioned his conduct vis-à-vis Trump, but let’s not forget how Jim Comey also lied to defend the indefensible conduct of Hillary Clinton, 2016 Democrat candidate for the presidency, whose frequent violation of classification laws was downplayed as something “no reasonable prosecutor would (prosecute).” When, in fact, “(m)any people have been prosecuted for far less, including John Deutch, Sandy Berger, David Petraeus, and lesser-known names.”

Yup, Jim Comey is a truly reprehensible person. And he is definitely “Worse Than a RINO.” That label fits Comey well.
