CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. () — A middle school teacher and girls basketball coach in Chicago’s northern suburbs is facing charges related to the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material, authorities said.
Crystal Lake police served a search warrant Thursday at the home of 27-year-old John M. Anderlik in the 1600 block of Carlemont Drive.
Wauconda Community Unit School District 118 confirmed that Anderlik teaches sixth grade and coaches girls basketball at Matthews Middle School. The district said he has been placed on administrative leave, barred from district property and prohibited from contacting students.

According to police, the investigation led to four charges: two counts of disseminating or offering to disseminate visual reproductions of child sexual abuse material on a computer, along with two counts of possessing such visual reproductions on a computer.
Anderlik remains in police custody, the school district said.
