Police stated that the preliminary investigation suggests the shooting is a singular event, and no additional suspects are being sought at present.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An elderly couple was found shot dead inside an Arlington home Wednesday morning, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said around 7:40 a.m., officers responded to a home off Clements Woods Lane regarding two people found unresponsive.

Officers found a man and a woman between the ages of 75 and 80 suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives arrived at the scene to conduct their investigation. Police mentioned that the initial findings indicate the shooting is a singular event, and there are no outstanding suspects being pursued at this time.

JSO Homicide Sergeant Steve Rudlaff reported that a handgun was discovered inside the residence and suggested that one of the victims likely used the weapon. Police indicated that the victims are probably a married couple.

The couple’s caretaker found them and alerted police.

The investigation is ongoing.
