Donations Continue to Stream into Karmelo Anthony’s Official Fund Even After Murder Conviction

Karmelo Anthony has been found guilty of the murder of Austin Metcalf and has received a 35-year prison sentence. Despite this, his official fundraising platform continues to see a steady influx of contributions.

The campaign on GiveSendGo aims to collect $1,396,725, with $629,724 already gathered. Even after the verdict and sentencing were publicized, donations have not slowed. Although the fund is primarily labeled for “legal defense,” Anthony’s trial is now concluded.

In addition, Anthony’s mother, Kala Hayes, has cited expenses related to the family’s needs.

“This fundraiser has been created to offer comprehensive support to the Anthony family as they face the extensive challenges related to Karmelo’s situation,” Hayes explained.

“While legal defense remains a significant aspect, it’s important to understand that this fund is not exclusively for legal fees.”

The Anthony family has reportedly moved to a gated community in Richwoods, Frisco, Texas. Just two weeks after the murder, it was reported that they were renting a $900,000 home and had invested in a new vehicle.

“He got a new car,” a resident told the Daily Mail in April of 2025. “If you look at the license plate, it’s got a paper tag, and it says it expires June 4.”

“They’re not poor people. That’s for sure,” another resident said.

The continued existence of the GiveSendGo has sparked outrage online, as many social media users insist the site should remove the campaign after Anthony’s conviction.
