(NewsNation) — Over 30,000 wireless power banks have been recalled due to several reports of them catching fire and exploding, as stated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recalled ESR HaloLock models, identified as 2G520, 2G505B, and 2G512B, were available for purchase on Amazon between September 2023 and the previous month before being discontinued. In total, over 24,000 of these power banks were sold in the United States, and nearly 10,000 were purchased in Canada.

“The lithium-ion battery in the recalled power banks can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers,” the CPSC said.

ESR has reported nine incidents where the chargers “caught fire and exploded,” prompting the recall. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries, although the incidents have resulted in approximately $20,000 in property damage, as reported by the CPSC.
