Kentucky mom allegedly gave 22-month-old son a tattoo because he 'wanted' one

A startling incident has emerged from Kentucky, where a mother allegedly tattooed her 22-month-old son with a small dot, claiming it was at his request. The unsettling details have caught the attention of both law enforcement and child welfare authorities.

Brook McDaniel, 27, found herself in handcuffs earlier this week after Kentucky State Police visited her residence in Monticello, prompted by a troubling child abuse report, as reported by Lex18.

According to an arrest citation accessed by the news outlet, McDaniel explained to the troopers that while she was in the process of tattooing her own leg, her young son intervened by placing his arm in the path of her tattoo machine.

Officers observed a distinct black dot tattooed on the child’s right forearm, noting redness surrounding the area, which added to their concerns. Witnesses further complicated the narrative by stating that McDaniel referred to the mark as a “party dot tattoo” and bizarrely insisted that the child had expressed a desire for it.

The situation prompted troopers to notify the Department for Community-Based Services, highlighting the “deplorable” conditions in which the family was living, leading to a broader investigation into the child’s welfare.

Troopers also alerted the Department for Community-Based Services over “deplorable” living conditions in the home, the outlet reported.

McDaniel was charged with fourth-degree assault (child abuse) and booked into the Adair County Detention Center.

She was ordered held on a $5,000 cash bond, WKYT reported.
