An Alabama woman tragically lost her life in a shooting incident allegedly involving her boyfriend, who dialed 911, claiming she was an intruder.
On Thursday, officers from Birmingham’s West Precinct responded to a 911 call shortly after 12:15 p.m. The call reported a woman being shot while purportedly attempting to break into a home on the 2000 block of 10th Street in Pratt City, according to AL.com.
Upon arrival, detectives discovered the victim, 20-year-old Bria McNeal-Williams from Center Point, lying unresponsive near the residence’s back door. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service declared her deceased at 12:30 p.m.
Jeffrey Rogers, 25, was the individual who made the emergency call, claiming he shot someone attempting to invade his home, as stated by Officer De’Rell Freeman.
However, by Saturday, police investigations revealed that the shooting was likely a domestic incident. It was established that McNeal-Williams and Rogers were romantically involved.
Rogers now faces murder charges, along with an additional charge for firearm possession.
He is being held in the Jefferson County jail without bond.
