The single juror who blocked a unanimous decision in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial was also the only Black member of the panel, a fellow juror said in a new interview.
Paula Devlin, who served among the 11 jurors who favored finding Clancy not criminally responsible in the strangulation deaths of her three young children, told “CBS Mornings” on Friday that the lone holdout was a Black man and the jury’s only person of color.

“Everybody else was White,” Devlin said.
The remark prompted interviewer Gayle King to pause, responding, “I have to sit with that for just a second.”

Devlin added that the jurors’ ages varied widely, from 22 to roughly “70-ish.”
Plymouth Superior Court Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial last week after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. Jurors informed the court they were deadlocked 11-1, with the lone male holdout casting the only vote to convict Clancy of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan.
