“Here’s the way to handle this,” I penned, asserting the necessity of more actions like this one to tackle an ongoing societal issue. High-level sports should not feature men competing against women, and this matter is unequivocal.
Indeed, more unfolded over the weekend when two courageous young women from Oregon declined to remain on the podium as a male competitor received a medal.
During the Oregon state championship on Saturday night, two female track and field athletes chose not to join a transgender athlete on the medal platform for the high jump event.
Footage obtained by Fox News Digital showed the two high school seniors, Reese Eckard of Sherwood High School and Alexa Anderson of Tigard High School, step down from their respective spots on the podium next to a trans athlete who represented Ida B. Wells High School.
Eckard, in fourth place, and Anderson, in third, each finished ahead of the trans athlete, who tied for fifth place. But the two females faced the opposite direction as the other competitors received their medals from officials.
Outspoken former University of Kentucky swim star Riley Gaines appreciated the gesture, writing, “girls have had enough.”
