Newly prominent socialist candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier abruptly left a live radio interview after facing questions about controversial social media posts criticized as anti-Dominican. Hours later, the Democratic Socialists of America-backed candidate delivered a major upset, defeating five-term incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat and positioning herself as the likely favorite in the November race.

A Florida man has been indicted for allegedly planning a violent attack at the pro-Israel nonprofit AIPAC. Prosecutors say Forrest Pemberton, who was armed with an AR-15 and a silencer, surveilled the empty office and spoke of wanting to “break the loop” before investigators tracked him through cellphone data.
