Zohran Mamdani appears pleased that Taylor Swift’s big day will come with at least one advantage: an indoor escape from the “Cruel Summer” heat.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani offered a bit of wedding-related advice Wednesday for pop icon Taylor Swift and her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, as speculation builds around their reported Madison Square Garden ceremony.
The moment came during a briefing focused on a far more urgent concern: a potentially dangerous 112-degree heat index threatening vulnerable New Yorkers. Asked about the rumored celebrity-packed event, which has reportedly included talk of an elaborate castle setup, Mamdani steered the answer back to public safety.
“My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool,” Mamdani said.
“And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside, and you will be staying cool. I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large.”
Swift and Kelce are expected to marry Friday inside Madison Square Garden, just as the city remains under an extreme heat watch that is set to continue through the Fourth of July.
