LAKE FOREST, Ill. — A freight train struck a vehicle Friday morning in Lake Forest, prompting an emergency response in the northern suburbs, police said.
Lake Forest police officers and firefighters were called shortly after 11:30 a.m. to the area near Old Mill and Waukegan roads following reports of the collision.
According to authorities, a southbound Kansas City Southern freight train traveling from Milwaukee to Bensenville hit a car occupied by a man in his 50s.
