It likely was not the question Secretary of State Marco Rubio anticipated, but his response suggested he was ready for it.
Rubio was on his way into a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna on Monday morning when, during a handshake in a State Department reception room, a reporter called out a question.

“Mr. Secretary, what’s your reaction to FIFA reversing the red card suspension after pressure?” a male voice asked from off-camera.
As RedState previously noted, the characterization of “pressure” is disputed. President Trump acknowledged during an Oval Office exchange with reporters that he had spoken with FIFA President Gianni Infantino about the organization’s decision to issue a red card to key USMNT (U.S. Men’s National Team) starter Folarin Balogun, removing him from the World Cup match against Bosnia and Herzegovina and sidelining him for the next-round game against Belgium. Trump said he believed the call was wrong and requested that it be reviewed. Infantino, however, made clear that he does not personally decide whether a red card is overturned; FIFA’s independent judicial bodies have the authority to make the final ruling.
