Educators rallied outside Naperville Central High School Monday ahead of a District 203 School Board meeting.

The district and union have been bargaining since February.

Last week teachers voted to authorize the ability to strike.

What continues to be debated by the union and district are teacher compensation and proposed school day change.

“We boast the top-performing academic district in Illinois among unit districts, yet our pay doesn’t reflect that standing,” stated Ross Berkley, President of the Naperville Unit Education Association.

“The union’s present offer is unsustainable. Accepting it would force our board to make difficult decisions that would affect you and your families,” commented Charles Cush, President of the Naperville 203 Board.

With the union authorizing a strike, teachers could walk off the job at the earliest next Monday.
