The summer lottery excitement just reached a new high.
A Mega Millions ticket sold in Florida matched all the numbers Tuesday night, securing an estimated $800 million jackpot — the game’s biggest prize so far this year.
The winning combination was 34, 48, 49, 59, 70, with the gold Mega Ball 12.
The winner, who has not yet been publicly identified, can take the full $800 million prize through annuity payments or opt for a lump-sum cash payout of $344.2 million.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290,472,336.
The massive Florida win ranks as the tenth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, moving ahead of the $656 million prize split by three winners in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland in March 2012.
The record Mega Millions jackpot still stands at $1.62 billion, claimed by Saltines Holdings, LLC, after a ticket purchased in Neptune Beach, Florida, won on Aug. 8, 2023.
Tuesday’s drawing marked the first time the Mega Millions jackpot had been won since March 17, when The Happy Trails Trust claimed a $60 million prize in Van Wert, Ohio.
A week earlier, an anonymous online player in Illinois won the $536 million grand prize on March 10.
Both winners have chosen the cash sum option, earning them $27.1 million and $245.6 million, respectively.
