Memphis woman charged with first-degree murder after shooting man found hiding under her child's bed: docs

A Memphis mother has been charged with murder after authorities say she shot a man who had been hiding beneath her daughter’s bed.

Kendra Scott later told investigators she “saw a dude under my kids’ bed, and I did what I had to do,” according to an affidavit.

Officers found the man, identified as Rodderius Morton, in Scott’s front yard on Thursday with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

A juvenile witness nearby told police Scott had been knocking on the front door and shouting, “Who’s at my house?” before entering the residence and finding Morton under the child’s bed.

Investigators said Morton, who was not armed, argued with Scott as he left the home while she yelled, “Get out of my house, —–!”

Another witness told police Morton had entered through the back door after being invited inside. That witness said they heard one gunshot while Scott and Morton were on the front porch.

Scott allegedly told this witness in the past if she “sees a boy in my house, I will put a hole in his —,” documents say.
