ABC is set to air a special edition of “20/20” titled “Michelle Obama: The Style, The Power, The Look – A Conversation with Robin Roberts” on November 2. This program promises an engaging dialogue between Robin Roberts, co-anchor of “Good Morning America,” and former First Lady Michelle Obama, focusing on the intersection of fashion and personal empowerment.
Set against the backdrop of Marymount University in Virginia, the conversation delves into the role fashion has played throughout Obama’s life. From her teenage years designing her own prom dress to her historic tenure as the first Black First Lady of the United States, Obama shares insights into how style has been a pivotal part of her identity.
In an exclusive video segment, Michelle Obama reflects on how she utilized fashion as a platform to champion diversity and inclusion during her years in the White House.
This broadcast coincides with the launch of her newest book, “The Look,” which celebrates her journey in the public eye through the lens of fashion. The special also includes interviews with key figures who have contributed to her iconic style, such as her stylist Meredith Koop, makeup artist Carl Ray, and hairstylists Yene Damtew and Njeri Radway. Additionally, renowned designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Tracy Reese, and Narciso Rodriguez, along with fashion commentators, share their perspectives on Obama’s influence in the fashion world.
