King Charles, Prince Harry at point of 'no turning back' as monarch shuts door on reconciliation: report

Monarch and Prince at ‘No Turning Back’ Stage in Reconciliation Efforts: Report

The strained relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry has reportedly hit a critical juncture, with sources suggesting that reconciliation might now be out of reach.

The 76-year-old monarch has maintained a quiet stance, both metaphorically and physically distancing himself by 5,459 miles from his youngest son after Harry and Meghan Markle chose to step away from their royal duties in 2020.

The father and son’s connection has deteriorated to the point where palace insiders have little hope for a resolution between the once-close family members.

“There is no turning back,” royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News. “King Charles remains tender towards his son but can’t risk communication. Prince William now has absolutely no interest in mending fences.”

Fordwich added that the king’s inner circle says he “shouldn’t” make peace with his son “in a way that would burden Prince William’s future reign.”

“The animosity is so deep that William has shut the door on Harry. Charles is not willing to go against his heir’s wishes,” she added.

Indeed, trust — or lack thereof — remains at the heart of the rift.

An palace insider told The Post that the king “simply doesn’t trust Harry” — citing the Duke of Sussex’s explosive BBC interview, which is said to have shattered what little trust remained between them.

The Post has reached out to Buckingham Palace and reps for the Sussexes for comment.

It comes after insiders told People that the cancer-stricken king is hesitant to mend bridges with the Invictus Games founder, 40.

“The king and William don’t trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People, adding that “the underlying issue is trust.”

“It wasn’t meant to be an attack, but it would be seen as one. It makes Charles reaching out even harder,” royal author Valentine Low told the outlet.

What’s more, sources added that Harry’s estranged brother and future king, Prince William, has no interest in extending an olive branch.

“There is not a good angel in his ear to say, ‘Be a good dad and make the first move,’” Low told the outlet.

In the midst of it all, palace insiders say Queen Camilla is doing her best to “stay out” of the drama.

Last month, a royal commentator weighed in on the discourse, saying the duke needed to keep a “dignified silence” if he ever wanted a chance at a reconciliation with his estranged family members.
