JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An overnight shooting in Moncrief has left one person injured, with another individual now in custody, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Brook Forest Drive on Sunday, January 25, around 9:18 p.m. after reports of a woman being shot. Upon arrival, they found the victim, who was promptly taken to a nearby hospital where she remains in stable condition. Meanwhile, a suspect was located and subsequently detained by police.

Preliminary investigations by JSO suggest that the victim and the suspect were involved in an ongoing dispute. The suspect reportedly drove to the victim’s residence, where a heated argument broke out. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly opened fire towards the victim, who then returned fire.

In the exchange, the suspect’s girlfriend, who was seated in their vehicle, sustained injuries.

Authorities view this as an isolated incident. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500, email jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org, or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

JSO believes this to be an isolated incident. Any information about this incident is asked to be sent to JSO by calling 904-630-0500, or via email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
