A 27-year-old mother allegedly stabbed her husband and their 3-year-old son to death before attempting suicide Monday during a family stay in Pennsylvania’s Poconos, police said. Authorities said she spoke about working “so hard” to be the best mother and wife.
Metallica Rose Harrison is accused of attacking her husband, Charles Harrison, and their toddler, identified by the initials T.H., inside a room at Great Wolf Lodge, WNEP reported. She then allegedly slashed her wrists and neck.
Police said Harrison called 911 and asked for guidance on finding a vein to puncture, telling the dispatcher that she needed help dying.
“My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room,” she reportedly said. “They’re already gone, I’m sorry.”
According to an affidavit, both victims had stab wounds to the chest. Harrison allegedly also tried to puncture her own neck.
The Monroe County district attorney described the case as “a violent domestic tragedy in which two people, a boy and his father, lost their lives,” adding that authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
Harrison, who is from Towanda, declined to speak with officers following her arrest, saying she was “suicidal, not stupid.” She later made a series of disturbing statements to EMS workers while being taken to the hospital, according to the affidavit.
“Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,” Harrison told medics, according to the document.

“It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child,” she reportedly continued as first responders transported her away.
The affidavit also states that Harrison asked medics how deep her vein was so she would know “for next time.”
Investigators recovered two teal-handled knives from the room. Great Wolf Lodge said the weapons did not come from the resort. Officers also found containers holding what appeared to be blood and bottles of medication.
Police said they collected more than 80 to 90 pieces of evidence from Room 2030 at the Pennsylvania water park resort.
Harrison faces two counts of criminal homicide. She remained hospitalized and had not been arraigned as of Tuesday night.
Authorities said the family had been staying at Great Wolf Lodge for several weeks. They checked in Sept. 21 and extended their reservation again on Oct. 5.
Great Wolf Lodge spokesperson Jason Lasecki said the company was “deeply saddened and heartbroken” by the incident.
“It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation,” Lasecki said.
