A mother in Brazil has been acquitted of murder after cutting off her boyfriend’s genitals and setting his body ablaze when she discovered him attempting to assault her young daughter. The incident occurred in Minas Gerais, where Erica Pereira da Silveria Vicente admitted to killing Everton Amaro de Silva, claiming her actions were in defense of her 11-year-old child, as reported by Estado de Minas.

Vicente acted after receiving disturbing messages from de Silva directed at her daughter. Rushing to her child’s aid, she found him in the act of assaulting her, according to the reports.

Despite her defense, prosecutors argued that the nature of the killing indicated a premeditated act rather than one fueled by immediate anger. They alleged that Vicente had drugged de Silva with Klonopin, a medication used to control seizures, before attacking him while he was unconscious.

Testimonies revealed that a teenager who heard the commotion assisted Vicente in transporting the body to a deserted area in Belo Horizonte. There, Vicente allegedly mutilated the corpse and set it on fire, as jurors were informed during the trial.

The mom allegedly spiked de Silva’s drink with Klonopin, a medication used to treat seizures, and then stabbed and clubbed him while he was unconscious, according to prosecutors.

A teen who heard screams helped the mom carry the body to wasteland in Belo Horizonte — where Vicente cut off the dead man’s genitals and set fire to his body, jurors were told.

Cops linked Vicente to the killing after following a trail of blood to her Belo Horizonte apartment and she handed over the knife.

She confessed to the killing — but insisted it was only to save her daughter.

The jury agreed, and the mom was acquitted Tuesday of aggravated homicide and destroying a corpse after just one day of testimony.

The mom — who had already spent a year behind bars awaiting trial — was cleared by the judge of any wrongdoing.
