Dr. Darren Lund Death – Cause of Death: Dr. Darren E. Lund has reportedly passed away from prostate cancer.

Dr. Darren was a reputed teacher who taught different educational institutes for the last 16 years of his life. In addition, he co-founded the student activist program called Students and Teacher Opposing Prejudice.

Furthermore, he was famous for his work against discrimination and prejudice at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School. He was also the leader at Metropolis Centre’s Welcoming programs in 2007.

He was a Professor of Educational Studies in Curriculum and Learning in the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary.

“Dr. Darren Lund started Alberta’s first GSA, in Red Deer, when he was a teacher,” Rachel Notley wrote. “He went on to share his vision of equity, inclusion, justice and advocacy with hundreds and hundreds of Alberta teachers. Alberta is a better place for him.”

As a teacher at Lindsay Thurber, Dr. Darren Lund was renowned for his work against prejudice and discrimination and continued with this work at the University of Calgary.

“I took one of his courses as an elective (Social Justice and Activism) at the U of C while doing my Masters degree. Being also from Red Deer, he made a special effort to shake my hand when I crossed the stage at my convocation.”

The loved and respected professor, Dr. Darren Lund, passed away on November 12, 2021. He reportedly passed away from prostate cancer.

It appears his illness was known to only a few people including, his family members. 

Darren joined the Calgary Police Service Anti-Racism Action Committee as a member in 2021. Furthermore, last year, he joined the Parkland Institute as an Advisory board member.

As reports revealed, Dr. Darren Lund passed away after losing the battle with prostate cancer. There is no further information available on his cancer stage and his treatments records.
