Authorities announced on Sunday the arrest of a Long Island police detective, accused of attempting to exploit a minor sexually.
Robert Sacco, aged 38 and serving as a Nassau County detective, reportedly engaged in extensive communication with an undercover agent. Sacco believed this agent to be the father of a 10-year-old girl, according to a statement by the Justice Department.
The federal authorities allege that Sacco requested the agent to create a video of himself abusing his daughter, intending to view the footage for his own sexual satisfaction.
On Friday, Sacco logged into a video call, allegedly prepared to witness the undercover officer engage in explicit acts with the supposed child, as detailed in a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
According to federal sources, when informed by the undercover officer that the child was unwilling to leave her room, Sacco inquired whether they should “postpone.”
Interactions between Sacco and the undercover officer, initiated in October 2025, revealed Sacco’s expressed sexual interest in children. He also allegedly admitted to ejaculating on images of the officer’s fictional daughter, as reported by federal authorities.
Sacco, a Huntington resident, was arrested Saturday and made a brief court appearance in Brooklyn, but he will be transferred upstate for prosecution, authorities said.
