A Twitch streamer is addressing the public after a burst of gunfire at his birthday celebration left one person dead and several others wounded.
San Jose content creator “NateDeBaiits,” who regularly streams on Twitch, hosted the weekend gathering near Hale Avenue in Morgan Hill. Authorities said roughly 300 people were in attendance.
Another streamer, known online as “jcseay,” was broadcasting live from the party when shots were fired, sending guests running in panic.
“Long live Dezzi. My deepest condolences to his family and everyone who loved him. This doesn’t even feel real. He was my classmate and my friend, and I’m truly heartbroken,” NateDeBaiits wrote Monday on his Instagram Story, honoring victim Desi Romero.
“I’m not doing this for attention or sympathy. I’m doing it because someone I called a friend/classmate lost his life at my party, and my heart breaks for everyone affected,” he added.
Romero’s aunt also remembered him in a GoFundMe launched Monday, writing, “He will forever be remembered for the love he brought to everyone around him. He was a cherished son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend whose memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.”

The celebration took place in an open field, where signs taped to poles advertised the event as “Natedebaitts Birthday PARTY.”
According to a Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies were initially called to the scene following reports of intoxicated individuals and someone throwing bottles at vehicles.
Deputes arrived only to find a chaotic scene of more than 300 partygoers running away from the shooting.
Following the incident, NateDeBaiits’s Twitch account has been temporarily banned.
Four victims are still in the hospital, while two others have been released.
No arrests have been made, and investigators have not yet identified a motive or determined how many shooters were involved.
