The Weaver Nut Company issues a recall of multiple chocolate products.

The investigation revealed that the company neglected to reveal a crucial ingredient known to be a significant allergen, posing serious health risks and potentially fatal consequences.

The FDA explained that the packaging on certain batches of chocolates from the company failed to declare milk allergens.

“Individuals allergic or highly sensitive to milk may face severe or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the affected products,” declared Weaver Nut Company.

Two chocolate products are included in the nationwide recall but each have several lot numbers that shoppers must look out for.

Anyone who discovers that they have an affected product and a milk allergy must not consume the sweet treat.

Instead, they should throw it away immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Shoppers across the country must pay attention as the company supplies multiple retail and grocery store outlets nationwide.

The following two items are those that have been affected by the recall:

  • Nonpareil, Semi-Sweet Chocolate (Christmas Seeds)
  • Nonpareils, Semi-Sweet Chocolate (White Seeds)

So far no illnesses linked to the undeclared allergens have been reported.

The company discovered the error when a wholesale customer complained that their delivery did not match up to the new product specification.

This was then “followed by a lab test to confirm the milk presence,” Weaver said.

“Weaver Nut Company is working with the FDA and is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its products,” the company added.
