Authorities have confirmed that multiple arrests took place on Saturday following an incident where anti-ICE demonstrators were captured on video hurling trash cans and debris at law enforcement near a government building in New York City.

The clashes occurred in the context of an ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration in Chinatown, which has ignited a series of protests in the neighborhood for over a month.

Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Centre and Howard streets, close to the U.S. General Service Administration building in Lower Manhattan, shortly before noon after receiving reports of disruptive demonstrators, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Upon arrival, officers observed individuals blocking the streets and obstructing exits at various points, as stated by the NYPD.

Video clips revealed protestors pushing large potted plants in front of ICE vehicles, pelting officers with trash, and shouting profanities.
