New York teacher suspended after celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination: ‘Good riddance to bad garbage’

A high school teacher in New York has been put on administrative leave as an investigation takes place. The teacher, Patrick Freivald, mocked the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a co-founder of Turning Point USA, which caused a strong reaction from both parents and the local community.

Freivald, who teaches physics and robotics in the Naples Central School District, made remarks on Facebook, viewed by Fox News Digital, that Kirk was “hit by a bullet to the neck” and commented, “Good riddance to bad garbage.”

In his posts, Freivald mocked the details of Kirk’s last moments. He wrote that Kirk, who had previously suggested that gun violence was an acceptable risk for protecting his interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, was spending his final coherent minutes blaming transgender individuals for such violence and advocating against their rights.

Freivald compared Kirk to a notorious propagandist, saying he was “interrupted by a bullet to the neck,” which he claimed quickly silenced him and turned him into what he referred to as a “good Nazi.” He concluded with, “Good riddance to bad garbage.”

The teacher continued with other posts, mentioning, “No media reported Kirk’s death, but Cheeto Jesus has. Edit: It’s now confirmed by multiple sources.”

He also shared a picture of himself wearing a shirt that said, “IS HE DEAD YET?”

Freivald has a history of stirring controversy. In August, he targeted his critics, calling them derogatory names related to the MAGA movement and boasting about the security of his teaching position.

“I have tenure and seniority in the strongest union in the strongest union state in the country and they only have to put up with me for seven more years,” he wrote.

He went on to accuse Trump supporters of backing “a fascist pedophile,” adding, “No space for fascists. No breath. No room. Silence is compliance.”

Outside the classroom, Freivald promotes himself as a three-time Bram Stoker Award–nominated horror author and runs Frog’s Point Honey, which sells hot pepper–infused honey and maple syrup. On his author blog, he defended offensive writing, saying he was “pleased” when his work caused “umbrage, offense, even outrage.”

Freivald and the school district have not responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
