A powerful early-morning fire tore through a restaurant in Southern California on Monday, sending huge flames and dense smoke above Santa Clarita as the blaze extended into nearby businesses.
The fire was reported around 3 a.m. at Newhall Refinery, located on Main Street, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Firefighters spent hours battling the fast-moving flames after they pushed beyond the restaurant and reached neighboring properties, including The MAIN, a community theater situated next door.
Footage from the scene captured towering fire consuming parts of the buildings while emergency crews directed several hose lines at the inferno.
The Santa Clarita fire cast a bright orange glow across the area as thick plumes of smoke rose into the early morning sky.
As of Monday morning, officials had not confirmed how many businesses were affected or the full extent of any damage inside the structures.
No injuries had been reported in connection with the blaze.
Fire crews remained on Main Street, working to fully extinguish the flames and keep the fire from spreading farther through the busy commercial area.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately known and remains under investigation.
