An employee of the NFL, who was injured by gunfire in the lobby of a Manhattan office building last week, alerted his coworkers about the shooter before contacting emergency services, according to a report.

The staff member, who sustained a bullet wound to the back, was among several individuals in the building who notified colleagues about the active shooter through texts or phone calls, as detailed by The New York Times on Sunday.

His call to 911 was one of 113 made to report the shooting, according to the report. NYPD officers arrived within four minutes of the first call.

Four people were killed and a fifth was wounded inside the building that is the headquarters of Blackstone and the NFL, according to authorities.

Authorities suspect Shane Tamura, 27, from Las Vegas, aimed to reach the NFL offices after he opened fire on people in the lobby and later in a 33rd-floor office on Monday, before turning the gun on himself, investigators revealed.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed staff in a memo last week that a league employee suffered serious injuries in the event and remains hospitalized but in stable condition.
