Nolan Wells’ Family Subpoenas Social Media Giants Over Deleted Content Concerns

The family of Nolan Wells has subpoenaed multiple social media companies for account records and digital data as they continue pressing for answers in the mysterious death of the 18-year-old college football player.

Court documents obtained by the Sun Herald show the subpoenas were filed Tuesday and seek information tied to Wells’ accounts on Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok, Meta Platforms and Life360, the location-tracking app.

The requests ask the companies to provide all materials connected to Wells’ accounts, including current and previous usernames and passwords, email addresses, phone numbers and display names.

Wells’ family is also seeking every IP address linked to the accounts, along with communications such as chats, posts, stories and other account information, according to the Sun Herald.

His cellphone has emerged as a central focus in the investigation into his death earlier this month, a case that has drawn national attention.

Wells’ mother, Christine Wonsley, said the family became alarmed after his phone was returned and they found no pictures or videos on his two Snapchat accounts. She described the absence of content as “suspicious” and said it raised concerns that material may have been deleted.

Wells had taken a boat to Horn Island off the Mississippi Coast on the Fourth of July but did not return with his friends. The friends came back to the mainland with Wells’ cellphone and told police they had left him on the island so he could talk with a girl.

Two days later, Wells’ body was discovered in the water off the island.

Wells’ pal Warren Hudson –– who was on the ill-fated trip with him — insists he has no knowledge that anyone deleted anything from the promising athlete’s phone.

“There was no reason for us to get on Nolan’s phone, no one touched Nolan’s phone… If none of us had touched Nolan’s phone, then y’know there’s no reason for anything to be deleted,” Hudson told YouTuber The Officer Tatum.

“No one even was in contact with his phone until it was moved from the boat to the truck, and none of us have access to Nolan’s password to get on his phone and delete anything,” the friend explained.

“We had no reason to delete anything… There’s nothing to hide here,” said Hudson — who previously told The Post that he considered Wells his “best friend.

The subpoenas were filed by Mississippi-based attorney Gary Bufkin, who is assisting prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump’s independent investigation into Wells’ death.
