Northwestern University federal funding restored after school reaches deal with Trump administration, officials say

Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, has successfully negotiated a deal with the federal government, reinstating several hundred million dollars in research funding.

The video included above is from an earlier report.

Previously this year, the Trump administration had put a hold on federal funding, citing ongoing investigations into potential civil rights violations at various universities nationwide.

Specifically, Northwestern University saw approximately $790 million in federal funds suspended.

The university came under scrutiny due to its management of pro-Palestinian protests and the campus’s approach to combating antisemitism.

Northwestern said the funding it received was driving innovative and life-saving research, like its development of the world’s smallest pacemaker and advancements in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, which was put a jeopardy during the funding freeze.
