Think Only Members of Congress Are Blocking ICE? Think Again As TN State Rep. Brags About 'Bullying' Them

In line with his campaign promise, President Donald Trump is actively pursuing the deportation of millions of illegal immigrants in the U.S., causing significant concern among Democrats. His actions disrupt their strategy to potentially increase their voter base through this demographic, while the majority of Americans appear to support mass deportations. Recently, an incident involving Democrat members of Congress trying to access a detention facility in New Jersey resulted in chaos. This proactive stance isn’t limited to just the federal level; state lawmakers are seemingly following the lead of their federal counterparts in this regard.

On Tuesday, Tennessee State Rep. Aftyn Behn (D-Nashville) shared footage where she was seen attempting to disrupt an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation near Nashville. The video captures her trailing behind ICE agents and state law enforcement officers. Behn states that she “intimidated” ICE and Tennessee Highway Patrol officers (THP) during an earlier operation on May 9 in Madison, Tennessee.

It was here that Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) decided to assist State Rep. Behn in her quest for internet fame by taking to X and sharing her video saying,

“This is Nashville State Representative Aftyn Behn. She just posted a 15-minute video of her and a friend stalking the Tennessee Highway Patrol as they carried out official duties – openly admitting they were trying to stall law enforcement from stopping illegal aliens. Let’s be clear: [the mayor of Nashville] is enabling Nashville liberals to actively obstruct ICE and law enforcement operations. This isn’t just reckless – it’s aiding and abetting.”

In the video, Behn and a friend can be seen following ICE and THP vehicles to several different locations in Nashville. Behn’s friend is driving while Behn is in the passenger seat, documenting their whole juvenile game of cops and robbers. Behn’s caption on the video reads, “MADISON ICE WATCH…Stalled at least 4 ICE vehicles for 20 minutes.” Behn can then be seen in the video saying gleefully, “This is great! We got our girl squad, and we’re bullying the ICE vehicles and state troopers. So, this is like, this is a win!”

Behn continues to document their silly antics, saying that a THP officer pulled them over for running a red light. This, after Behn brags that she and her friend followed the agents to a gas station and “took their (parking) spot,” and that they were “a little upset.” Behn’s friend takes over the narration, saying:

“So, then they were leaving, and I left, too. They pulled into another parking lot, and I pulled in behind them. Then they flipped their lights to pull us over and accused me of running a red light.”

Behn and her cohort may have gotten the attention of the wrong member of Congress. Ogles recently called for Congress to launch an investigation into Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, who, after several ICE operations in the Nashville area, redeclared Nashville a sanctuary city, and to report any local law enforcement that cooperates with ICE. O’Connell has also signed an executive order to track and report any interactions with federal immigration officials. Unfortunately for people like State Rep. Behn and Mayor O’Connell, Nashville is a blue dot in a red state. Both houses of the Tennessee legislature have Republican majorities, and Republican Gov. Bill Lee recently signed a bill into law strengthening immigration enforcement.

But Democrats everywhere are dug in on defending illegal immigrants. My colleague Rusty Weiss recently reported the veiled threat made by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) against law enforcement if his fellow Democrats were barred from entering immigration facilities. Threats, veiled or otherwise, from Swalwell may elicit a chuckle from most of us, but make no mistake, this may be coming to your state courtesy of your local Democrat lawmakers.
