A tragic incident unfolded north of Brisbane, where a teenage girl tragically lost her life, and four others are in a critical condition following a devastating house fire.

Witnesses nearby reported hearing explosions and desperate cries as the flames rapidly consumed the residence in Lawnton, leaving little time for its occupants to react. In a frantic escape, two teenagers, along with a man and a woman, managed to flee from the inferno, only to find themselves in dire need of medical attention.

Neighbor John McWha recounted the harrowing event, describing how the “whole place just exploded,” capturing the sudden and violent nature of the blaze. Photographs taken from an adjacent property reveal the thick, dark smoke that billowed from the house before the roof ultimately collapsed under the intense heat.

Terrifying pictures from next door showed  how thick and dark the smoke was before the roof caved in.

Investigators are now left with the painstaking task of combing through charred remains.

They’re looking into reports a lithium-ion battery from an e-device may be to blame.

The four people who escaped were rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious burns and were still receiving treatment.
