An NYPD officer’s service weapon accidentally discharged inside a Brooklyn subway station Thursday afternoon, sending bullet fragments into another officer and a bystander, authorities said.
The incident happened around 4:40 p.m. at the Kingston-Throop Avenue station in Bedford-Stuyvesant, according to the NYPD. All three people connected to the shooting were taken to a hospital after the accidental gunfire.
Police said a male officer and a 34-year-old woman who was inside the station were struck by fragments from the bullet.
The officer whose weapon discharged, along with the officer and woman who were hit, were listed in stable condition at the hospital. All three have since been released, officials said.
Both officers were placed on modified duty while the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division reviews the subway station shooting.
