At least 10 people taken to hospital after Oklahoma shooting

A shooting incident near Arcadia Lake, close to Oklahoma City, is under investigation, with police expecting the tally of injuries to rise as more information emerges.

In the vicinity of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a violent event unfolded Sunday night, resulting in at least 10 individuals being hospitalized.

The Edmond Police Department confirmed that at least 10 people were transported to various medical facilities, with their conditions ranging widely. However, as of midnight ET, there was no confirmation regarding fatalities.

    The shooting took place around 9 p.m. local time, according to police spokesperson Emily Ward. The incident involved “a large group of young people having a party” at the lakeside location.

Police spokesperson Emily Ward said the shooting happened around 9 p.m. local time involving “a large group of young people having a party” by the Arcadia Lake. 

Police said the number of injured may increase since some people were taken to hospitals using private vehicles instead of ambulances. 

An investigation is ongoing. State highway patrol and city police and fire officials responded to the scene after getting multiple calls about shots fired. 

No arrests have yet been made and police said there is no threat to the public. 

Arcadia Lake is located in around 13 miles north of Oklahoma City in the suburb of Edmond, a city of about 100,000. The lake is a popular place for picnicking, camping, fishing and water sports.
