'Operation Midnight Hammer' Was a Flawless Success - SecDef Hegseth, CJCS Caine Speak From the Pentagon

At the end of President Donald Trump’s brief speech to the nation on Saturday evening concerning the U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, he mentioned that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine would conduct a press conference on the operation Sunday morning from the Pentagon.

Hegseth and Caine did just that bright and early Sunday, both speaking briefly before taking a few questions from assembled reporters.

Hegseth spoke first, praising the mission’s success.

“We dedicated months and weeks to positioning and preparing, making us ready for the President’s call. It required a high level of precision, utilizing misdirection and exceptional operational security. Our B-2s moved in and out of these nuclear sites—undetected by the world. It was historic, marking the longest B-2 Spirit Bomber mission since 2001, and included the first operational use of the MOP, a Massive Ordinance Penetrator.”
