India deployed several Israeli-manufactured Harop drones against Pakistan overnight and into Thursday, with one causing damage to a military installation and injuring four soldiers, according to a Pakistani army spokesperson.
Pakistani forces intercepted 25 of the drones, Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif, the Pakistan army spokesperson, informed The Associated Press. Debris from one of the drones that was shot down and crashed in Sindh province resulted in the death of one civilian and injured another.
A drone hit a military site close to Lahore, injuring four soldiers, and another crashed in Rawalpindi, close to the capital, Sharif stated.
“The armed forces are neutralizing them as we speak,” Sharif said on the state-run Pakistan Television early on Thursday afternoon, the outlet reported.
U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., said in a Wednesday post on X, “I urge Indian and Pakistani leaders to find a path towards de-escalation, and to ensure accountability for those responsible for the horrific April 22 terrorist attack in Kashmir. For the sake of innocent civilians in India and Pakistan—now is the time to lean into diplomacy.”
