Chicago Loop stabbing: 6 in custody after homeless man stabbed to death outside Wabash Street restaurant, officials say

In a tragic incident early Sunday morning, a man experiencing homelessness was fatally stabbed outside a restaurant in downtown Chicago. Authorities have taken six individuals into custody following the attack, which occurred in the bustling Loop area.

The Chicago Police Department reported that the victim was discovered unresponsive on the 200 block of South Wabash Avenue around 7:20 a.m. The circumstances leading to this violent act remain unclear at this time.

With a noticeable puncture wound, the man was swiftly transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The victim’s identity has not yet been made public.

As of Monday, police have confirmed that charges against the suspects are still pending. Authorities continue to investigate the situation, seeking further clarity on the events that led to this devastating incident.

The community’s resolve to seek justice has been echoed by Cook County Crime Stoppers, which has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information resulting in an arrest. “This is a senseless loss of life,” remarked Paul Rutherford, Executive Director of Cook County Crime Stoppers. “We are deeply committed to supporting law enforcement and the community in bringing justice for this individual.”
