A man armed with a sword was shot and killed by police Saturday outside a sedan in Nashville, where authorities said a woman was reportedly being held against her will.
The deadly officer-involved shooting happened on Cheshire Drive after officers encountered the 54-year-old man standing outside his Hyundai sedan with the weapon, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police said the woman was inside the vehicle at the time and was reportedly not free to leave. Her condition has not been released by authorities.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation into the shooting, police said.
Officials have not provided additional information about the confrontation, including the circumstances that led the officer to fire.
