Police in Kentucky are searching for a motive after a gunman shot and killed two women at a church on Sunday, also injuring a state trooper.
The individual, whose identity has not been revealed by authorities, fatally shot two women and wounded two men at the Richmond Road Baptist Church located in Lexington, Kentucky, as reported by Police Chief Lawrence Weathers.
Authorities stated that the suspect fired at a state trooper after being stopped near the Blue Grass Airport at approximately 11:30 a.m. The law enforcement officer is expected to recover. The stop occurred after the trooper’s license plate reader activated an alert.
“There were individuals heading to the airport, and they stopped to help the trooper,” Weathers mentioned. “I am grateful to them for stepping in and taking action.”
