A second suspect involved in the incident fled from police and remains outstanding.
GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A teenager, aged 17, is now facing serious charges for allegedly trying to break into a car in a Glynn County neighborhood early on Sunday morning, as reported by local authorities.
Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, a resident from the Tanglewood neighborhood alerted the Glynn County Police Department by dialing 911, reporting that two individuals had tried to break into their car, which was parked in their driveway.
Upon responding to the call, officers arrived at the scene and encountered two people in the vicinity, who then attempted to escape the police on foot. The officers successfully captured one of the suspects, a 17-year-old male, who was found wearing a ski mask and in possession of a handgun, according to police accounts.
First Coast News is not identifying the suspect due to his age.
The second suspect was not located by officers, who employed drones and a bloodhound to assist in search efforts.
The teen who was arrested faces multiple charges, including four counts of entering an automobile with the intent to commit a theft or felony, one count of criminal attempt to enter an automobile, one count of possession of a handgun by a person under 18, among others.
The investigation remains ongoing.
