President Trump Takes Immediate Steps to Honor Victims of Minnesota Mass Shooting

President Donald Trump acted swiftly on Wednesday, promptly releasing a proclamation to honor the victims of the mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minnesota.

The proclamation, displayed on the White House website, stated, “HONORING THE VICTIMS OF THE TRAGEDY IN MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA,” and directed flags to be flown at half-staff at the White House and all public buildings and grounds nationwide. This came in response to the tragic news of two children being killed and over a dozen others injured when a gunman opened fire during mass at Annunciation Catholic School on Wednesday morning, as reported by RedState.

The proclamation from President Trump read:

Out of respect for the victims of the senseless violence that occurred on August 27, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, under the authority granted to me as President of the United States by the Constitution and U.S. laws, I hereby order that the national flag be flown at half-staff at the White House, all public buildings, grounds, military posts, naval stations, and on all naval vessels within federal jurisdiction across the District of Columbia, the entire United States, and its Territories and possessions until sunset on August 31, 2025.

He continued:

Additionally, I instruct that the flag be flown at half-staff for the same duration at all U.S. embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military installations and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have set my hand this twenty-seventh day of August, two thousand twenty-five, in the two hundred and fiftieth year of the Independence of the United States of America.

Soon after the proclamation was issued, the Official White House Rapid Response account shared a video on X depicting the flags at the White House at half-staff.

“By order of President Trump, the flags at the White House have been lowered to half-staff as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated in Minneapolis, Minnesota,” the post read.

As my RedState colleague Sister Toldjah reported early Wednesday morning, local Minneapolis media outlets reported there was a mass shooting incident at the Catholic school, with nearly two dozen victims and the suspect reportedly dead.

This is a developing story. Please stay tuned to RedState for updates and continue to pray for the families.
